In the onomasiological perspective, the functional domain of junction is specified and some typological strategies of implementing its operations are presented.

In the semasiological perspective, the various structural parameters along which complex sentences vary are specified and their possible uses are illustrated.

Course plan

In the first session, each student chooses a language and a complex sentence type that he wants to describe during the two course weeks. Students bring their notebooks/laptops to the sessions.

To prepare for each session, students read the sections of the web script indicated below. In each session, first any problems relating to the reading matter are discussed. Then students describe those aspects of their complex sentence which are currently under consideration. In the last part of the session, results are compared. Students are encouraged to work in groups.
